Sebastian Schmitz is responsible for the application of the Industry 4.0 Maturity Index and the further support of manufacturing customer companies. Over the past two years he has played a key role in the development of the Maturity Index and has managed a number of Industry 4.0 Roadmap projects at manufacturing companies in various sectors. Prior to this, he was a project manager and doctoral student at FIR at the RWTH Aachen University in the field of digital networking. He studied Industrial Engineering and Management with a major in Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University and has already gained various project experiences at Voss Automotive and Claas of America.

His presentation will address the challenges of creating European collaboration and what Digital Innovation Hubs can contribute. He also will introduce this concept, the European strategy and give an introduction to the present European DIH landscape. Some of the present active European funded networks will be presented and possibilities for European collaboration. The European Commission Robotics strategy emphasizes these DIHs and his talk will introduce the robotics activities of the H2020 funded European networks.
